Introducing Stephanie Blackmon
After receiving her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama and joining the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Stephanie Blackmon became the most recent addition to the School of Education’s Higher Education program this fall.
Blackmon’s areas of research interest include teaching and learning, technology integration in college and university classrooms, and qualitative research. “I was interested in the way colleges and universities functioned (policies, practices, etc.) and how their policies and practices influenced teaching and learning,” Blackmon said, in response to how she initially gained an interest in the field of higher education.
Her experience in online teaching and learning has led Blackmon to a few projects exploring massive open online courses (MOOCs), as well as research on Second Life, an online virtual world where students and faculty can interact through the use of avatars.
Outside of the classroom, Blackmon enjoys music, art, performing arts, and enjoying the outdoors (such as walking trails). In addition, she is currently reading a few sci-fi and mystery books.
