CARES Act Information
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (full text) provides economic relief to U.S. citizens and public systems affected by the recent COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
- Virginia received $238.6 million in CARES Act funding in the Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund. 90% of this will be available to LEAs.
- Allowable uses include services and other items to support students identified as homeless (16 allowable uses). LEA homeless liaisons and foster care liaisons will have critical information about their students’ needs. Please reach out to your liaisons as you plan the use of these ESSER funds.
