Strategies to Build Educational Resilience Amongst Students
Project Empower Webinar with Shontell White and Allison Fears
The purpose of this webinar is to define educational resilience and to provide suggestions for fostering educational resilience amongst students. Utilizing an intersectionality lens, this webinar will explore the research that has been conducted on the topic of resilience in education and will consider what might be missing from this body of knowledge. Resilience literature considers the impact of roles and relationships outside of the school building that may contribute to positive educational outcomes (Williams & Portman, 2014). The session will consider these protective factors and will provide suggestions about how schools can help foster supportive networks for their students. This webinar will be tailored to school counselors, but will also consider the perspectives of other educators, guardians, and other important stakeholders.

Project Empower Webinar with Jennifer Niles, Caitlin Zima, and Lauren Williams
Hope is a vital element of individuals’ positive growth and development. Students with higher levels of hope experience reduced risk factors and increased connection to others, engagement in school, and success toward their goals. This webinar explores the many benefits of hope as a protective factor for students. We identify hope-based strategies and interventions to promote students’ success and well-being. Practitioners will gain practical strategies to incorporate into their direct service to students.
