The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a standardized test that is accepted by some programs in Schools of Education for admission purposes. We offer this test via computer as a service to our applicants and the community.
Please be aware that the GRE can be used for many of our graduate programs; the MAT can only be used for a few of them. Those programs include all of the Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership programs, master's and doctoral; and only a few programs in Curriculum and Instruction (Literacy Leadership and Gifted Education programs.) You cannot use the MAT for any program in counseling, school psychology, or counselor education, nor can you use it for the initial licensure programs.
The test is 60 minutes long, and contains 120 analogies. You should allow about 1.5 hours to take the test as the demographic information required takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. This section must be completed before you actually start the test. You should plan on arriving at the School of Education 10-15 minutes prior to your test session.
Please call 221-2317 to be placed on the schedule to take the test.
You must bring:
- 2 forms of ID, one has to be a picture ID
- payment in the form of a check (payable to W&M)
