Dean's Charge
The president and provost have had extended discussions related to diversity, inclusion, and equity and based on these discussions they have issued the following charge for this task force:
- The task force will need effective representation of the school community (faculty, students and staff) and a defined scope of work to identify and analyze the issues most salient in the school.
- It should recommend concrete, achievable and measurable goals; and these goals should be both short-term and long-term, as the work is both pressing and will need persistence beyond a short period.
- It will be useful for the task force to map out, even if not with precision, the anticipated costs, if any, of the made recommendations.
- Each school has a standing D&I committee, which should continue; these committees are responsible for long-term, on-going work, while the task forces are ad hoc. It makes sense to confer with this committee.
- Reports from the task force should be received by June 30, 2019 (with copies to the president and provost).
