School Psychology Program Receives NASP Accreditation-Full

Summary

The School Psychology Program in the School of Education receives full NASP Accreditation through Feb. 1, 2032.

Full Description

Congratulations to the William & Mary School Psychology program for being granted full accreditation from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) for the next seven years. The W&M School Psychology will be included in the list of NASP-Accredited Programs on the official NASP website. Candidates who graduate from this program while it holds full accreditation status will automatically be eligible for the National Certificate in School Psychology (NCSP).

Candidates who graduate while while the program holds full accreditation status are automatically eligible for the National Certificate in School Psychology (NCSP), which makes it easier to transition between states, obtain and provide clinical supervision and, in some cases, earn a higher salary.

Said Associate Professor Leandra Parris: "Our program is being nationally recognized as a strong, healthy program which prioritizes the wellbeing of youth and our graduate students. We exceeded expectations for data-based decision making, collaboration with community members for program improvement, providing certification in crisis prevention/intervention within the program of study, and our commitment to fair and inclusive practices for all students we serve."

According to the organization's website: “The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) recognizes the critical role of professional preparation and accreditation as part of its commitment to serving the mental health and educational interests of all children and youth. NASP's Program Accreditation Board (PAB) has reviewed and accredited school psychology programs independently or as an accrediting member of National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), now Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation(CAEP) since 1978.”
