Profile

Dr. Wilkerson’s scholarly interests include equity issues in education, school improvement in low-performing schools, school accountability, principal support and development, and the nexus that exists among the factors of class, race, and ethnicity in educational leadership. 

His current work examines African American males in educational leadership. More specifically he looks at the career sustainability of African American males who lead low performing or high priority schools in the United States. In focusing on principal support and development through a racialized lens the intersection of race, gender, and educational leadership are interrogated.

Wilkerson is an active member of both the University Council of Educational Administration (UCEA) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). He is also an avid sports fan and a Life Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
