I am the Assistant Dean for Academic Programs & Student Services and I want you to join the Tribe!

I started out my career as a high school English teacher after graduating from North Carolina State University. After an unexpected to move to Germany, I found myself working in higher education with the Department of Defense and with universities operating overseas. I found my niche there, and decided to pursue a graduate degree in Higher Education Administration with the University of Oklahoma.

While overseas I was privileged to work in admission, registration and financial aid. Upon returning to the states, I worked for many years in university registrar’s offices.  But I found that the reason I went into education, and even into higher education, was my desire to work directly with students. I missed that while working with student information systems, records, etc., so I jumped at the opportunity to move back into admission, where I could have daily, one-on-one contact with students. 

And as luck would have it, I found my way into an admission role where I get to recruit teachers, along with administrators, counselors and school psychologists into the field I love—education. I’m lucky to work for the School of Education. We aren’t just checking squares and fulfilling licensure requirements. We develop professionals and leaders whose passion for the field is felt far beyond the four walls they work within every day.
