New book shares the love of children's literature

Prof. Denise JohnsonProf. Denise Johnson, area coordinator for Curriculum and Instruction (C&I), has recently published a second edition of her book, The Joy of Children's Literature, to be released this fall.

This new and up-dated introduction to children's literature prepares teachers to recognize, recommend, and share the love of literature with their young students. Combining in-depth coverage of children's literature with integrated reading methods in a concise, accessible format, this text's compact length affords teachers the time to read the many children's books highlighted in the text. Dr. Johnson emphasizes that reading, writing, discussing, and finding pleasure in children's books are essential activities for preparing classroom teachers to share the joy of children's literature with children themselves. The Joy of Children's Literature
