Navigating the Tides of Transition with MindfulnessDogwood Facilitator Bio: Martha Rouleau is a trained scientist and 31-year public school professional serving as a science and math teacher, department head, and assistant principal. Currently she serves in the role of Adjunct Lecturer for Mindfulness Meditation at W&M and UVA and also offers a multiple array of mindfulness program at both institutions. For more than 20 years, Martha's love of learning and meditation have led her to study and train in many fields of mindfulness including gratitude, compassion, addiction, anxiety and neuroplasticity. |

All unit strategic plans are due in early December. The purpose of this breakout session is to provide feedback on the draft of the SOE high level priorities, strategies, and actions that will comprise our unit's strategic plan. |

Implicit BiasDogwoodJ. Michael Payne Implicit bias involves feelings and attitudes we have toward certain people or groups that we are not conscious of that impact our actions. The primary goals of this session are: To promote awareness of implicit bias among all members of the faculty and to provide resources for moderating the negative effects of implicit bias within the SOE community. The session will include an overview of what implicit bias is and how it operates within education; tools for self-assessment; and strategies that can be used to reduce bias within the classroom and broader SOE community. This session will be facilitated by Mr. Michael Payne, business strategist, organization developer, diversity and inclusion consultant, and human resources expert.
