Reflections on the Profession: Disruptive Innovations Reshaping Education
Dean McLaughlin will focus on three recent innovations that have dramatic impact on public education: alternative routes into the profession, think tank research, and infusion of business practices. For each, she will discuss both positive and negative influences and implications for schools of education.
About Jim Yankovich
School of Education Professor and Dean
Dr. Yankovich joined the faculty at William & Mary as Dean and Professor in the School of Education in 1974, serving as its Dean until 1983. A decade later, he agreed to return to that office as Acting Dean from 1993 to 1995. During his twenty-two years at William & Mary, Jim was a valuable supporter of public education, the School of Education, and the College. Dr. Yankovich passed away May 25, 2011.
The James M. Yankovich Faculty Lecture is possible through the generosity of family, friends and colleagues who made memorial gifts to honor Jim's service to the School of Education. It is designed to highlight the expertise of School of Education faculty while also creating an opportunity to engage the College of William and Mary and the greater Williamsburg communities in dialogue focused on America's education system.
