March Madness (again!)
I used this title last year to emphasize how crazy March was for me. I find myself using this title yet again! I am only a few days into March and I am already feeling the stress. With the balance of school, work, and conferences, I can’t wait for April. Currently, I am sitting in a hotel lobby in sunny Tampa, Florida for the AACTE Annual Meeting Conference. As part of the Holmes Scholars Program, I get to enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to Florida. So far, the highlight of this conference has been hearing Dr. Shaun Harper’s inspiring words about diversity in Higher Ed. Aside from getting to travel, what I really enjoy about attending conferences is how motivated I become to get things done. It’s like a booster shot of “you belong here”. I enjoy meeting other people and getting a chance to talk to others about what I am passionate about. It is always great to have personal experiences validated as well as learning from each other. As this week comes to an end, things to look forward to include: going home to continue wedding planning, finish my outline for candidacy paper, actually completing my candidacy paper, and the NBCC conference in May. Oh! And also, finishing my last semester of coursework!
