Spring semester has begun
It’s kind of hard to believe that the spring semester has already begun. Here we are, with the lessons we learned in the last semester, and with our New Year’s (or new semester’s) resolutions. How do we want to implement the lessons and change our lives? Today one of my friends shared with me that she has made some powerful decisions for this year, and has started this semester with a totally new mindset. Her new mindset is just much more positive than what it used to be. It absolutely amazing how serious decisions could potentially influence one’s life, and yet we usually remain the same since it would be “more comfortable” for us to stay in our comfort zone…
I feel so positive and hopeful about the new semester. Part of it is because I have had the chance to get to know the people at the school of education during last semester. I started the doctoral program while I did not know anybody in the program, and now I know a wonderful cohort who would support me not only in my academic issues but also in my personal life. I believe that the quality of people around me is what really matters, and by “high quality” I mean people whom you could rely on when you are facing some sort of difficulties. Although we have a small cohort in the Counselor Education Program, I would absolutely count on them if I struggle in something, and that is what makes my life more enjoyable and peaceful at William and Mary.
