What is your current job?
I am currently an inclusion (multiple disabilities) 5th grade teacher in Fairfax County.

What are your research interests?
I’m interested in research surrounding the Science of Reading, Ross Greene’s Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, and the benefits of a co-taught classroom for all learners.

Why did you choose W&M?
I chose W&M because of the great reputation and the small size, especially in the School of Education.

What is your favorite thing about the program?
My favorite thing about the program was the people! My cohort was very close since there were only 7 of us. To this day, we still check in on each other. The professors were also amazing. Knowing they were supporting me through my time at the program and even after graduation, has been incredible as I continue to improve my skills as a teacher. Lastly, I loved how our program did student teaching. Allowing for two different placements let me see different levels of special education, different teaching strategies, and allowed me to make an educated choice on my first job once I graduated!

How has attending W&M impacted your career to date?
Attending W&M has greatly impacted my career. I graduated in May of 2020, peak pandemic. My principal took a chance on a first year teacher because of knowing I had a W&M education. Being a member of the Tribe has allowed me to feel adequately prepared to be the best teacher I can to my students and feel knowledgeable with the most recent teaching pedagogy.
