M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction

The curriculum explores instructional practices for deeper learning, creating valid and reliable classroom assessments and developing policy and practice to steer systemic change. Through rigorous, practice-based coursework, students connect research to real-world challenges while building expertise that can be applied immediately in their professional settings. Whether your goal is to strengthen instructional practice or lead organizational improvement, this program equips you with the knowledge and skills to make a lasting difference.

Students choose one of two concentrations:

• Teacher Leader & Literacy concentration, which focuses on the Science of Reading, writing instruction and literacy coaching, or
• Leadership concentration, which emphasizes educational leadership, creativity and innovation.

Because students remain employed throughout the program, every course becomes an opportunity to apply new learning directly to professional practice. Students implement instructional and leadership strategies in real time, reflect on their impact and continuously refine their skills through authentic workplace experiences.

The Teacher Leader program does not lead to additional licensure. It is ideal for:

• School teachers and employees who have obtained licensure/certification through alternative pathways
• School teachers and employees who work at schools that do not require licensure/certification, such as a charter school

Application materials include your unofficial transcript(s), a personal statement, a resume/CV, and a recommendation. We encourage prospective students to begin an application, as the portal provides a clear overview of all application requirements, including the personal statement prompt.

   4. On Campus or Online program? Online
   5. For which program are you applying? Online Teacher Ed - Gen Curriculum*
      *This is the name for this program in the portal
   6. Term: Summer 2026
4. Complete the application. The concentration can be selected in the Program Information section. Note that the Leadership concentration will appear as “Teacher Leader - General.”
