Profile

Dr. Lorio-Barsten is a clinical assistant professor in Curriculum & Instruction, who also supports the online M.A.Ed. program and serves as a University Supervisor for student teachers. Prior to joining the clinical faculty at William & Mary, Dr. Lorio-Barsten supported students and teachers in PK-12 public schools across a variety of roles. She has previously worked in the school districts as a project specialist with the Training and Technical Assistance Center, instructional specialist, assessment and compliance coordinator, special education teacher and general education teacher.

Her areas of interest include deeper learning, leadership, building inclusive learning communities, behavior management, applied behavior analysis in school settings, data-driven decision making, systems-change, and effective teacher preparation, support and retention. She is most passionate about supporting educators and helping them rediscover the joy of teaching and learning.
