Overview

The M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, with concentrations in Leadership or Teacher Leader & Literacy, is designed for working professionals who are passionate about supporting student success and eager to expand their knowledge and skills, regardless of their prior experience in education.  The program is fully online. This program does not lead to licensure and is ideal for...

  • School teachers and employees who have obtained licensure/certification through alternative pathways
  • School teachers and employees who work at schools that do not require licensure/certification, such as a charter school

Through a rigorous, practice-based design, students engage in real-world activities that connect theory to practice across diverse learning environments. Flexible yet challenging, the program enables learners to balance professional commitments while developing the expertise needed to lead in their schools, networks, or districts.

Programs of Study

Applicants must choose one of two concentrations:

  • Leadership concentration: includes core coursework and additional coursework in Educational Leadership and Creativity and Innovation in Education. 
  • Teacher Leader & Literacy concentration: includes core coursework and additional coursework in the science of reading, the teaching of writing, and literacy coaching

Special Rate

This program has a special rate of $455 per credit hour! The rate applies to any student admitted to this program, regardless of in-state or out-of-state residency. 

Format

This fully online program can be completed in six semesters. Students take one course at a time, with evening classes scheduled to accommodate working professionals.

    5. For which program are you applying? Online Teacher Ed - Gen Curriculum*
      *This is the name for this program in the portal
    6. Term: Summer 2026
  4. Complete the application. The concentration can be selected in the Program Information section. Leadership will appear as "Teacher Leader - General."
