Graduate Assistantships

Please review the following steps for the Graduate Assistantship Assignment process.

  1. Student submits online application or indicates interest on admission application
  2. Faculty complete application requesting Graduate Assistant (GA)
  3. Program coordinators EPPL and SPACE, working with department chairs, identify students (both incoming and current students) who would be a good fit for GA positions within their departments, to carry out specific duties of interest to the students (e.g., research, teaching, journal editorial work).
  4. Program coordinators in EPPL and SPACE work with the C&I department chair to identify doctoral students who are a good fit for work with C&I faculty.
  5. GA Selection Committee meets and reviews initial matches and makes recommendations and final approvals. Doctoral students remain the top priority for GA placements
  6. Admits, continuing students and faculty are notified of GA assignments.

  7. If a faculty member requested a GA but did not receive one, the committee will provide rationale.
