Each year, CSCC recognizes a scholar for outstanding theoretical and/or applied research that contributes to the national body of knowledge about community colleges. Dr. Eddy was nominated by her peers for her extensive work in leadership, gender, faculty development, rural college issues, international issues, and change. As one colleague noted in a nomination letter: "When community college research is brought up, inevitably her name is mentioned."

Dr. Eddy writes extensively on community colleges.  Her book, Community College Leadership:  A Multidimensional Model is used in community college leadership development programs throughout the country.  She is a frequent speaker at leadership academies on this topic.  Currently, she is on a national panel convened by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to update that organization's leadership competency framework.  In 2012, Eddy edited a volume of New Directions for Community Colleges titled Leading for the future:  Alignment of AACC competencies with practice. This work will inform the national panel's conversation on changes to the AACC competencies. Leading for the future: Alignment of AACC competencies with practice

This year, Dr. Eddy served as the past-president of CSCC.  She commented, "Receiving the senior scholar award from CSCC is very meaningful as I hold the work of the council central to my own research.  CSCC members help promote the good work occurring within community colleges and help to inform changes to make continued improvements.  Being recognized by my peers in this way is humbling and I am profoundly appreciative."
