Michelle Los Arcos, VP Professional Development
Michelle Los Arcos is a second-year student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track at William & Mary. Michelle graduated from James Madison University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. As a co-chair of Professional Development for the Omega Mu chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, Michelle hopes to provide learning opportunities that are culturally responsive and relevant to the community. After graduating, Michelle intends to work towards her LPC and work with the Hispanic population, adolescents, and young adults.
Sasha Kusno, VP Profeessional Development
Sasha is a second-year graduate student studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the online program. She is invested in helping students to connect to one another and the resources available to them. As the co-chairs of Professional Development, she and Michelle Los Arcos Balach host events to prepare students for careers in the mental health field, including Counselor Chats and training opportunities. Sasha has a background in non-profit organizations and small business. She loves creating spaces for students to ask questions, share knowledge, dream about the future, feel supported in the present moment, and build community. Sasha plans to work at a private practice in the Williamsburg area specializing in perinatal mental health and spiritually-integrated care.

Dhayla Wright, Treasurer
Dhayla is a second-year graduate student in the Couples, Marriage, and Family Master’s Counseling track. She received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology with a double major in English at Virginia Commonwealth University. As Treasurer of the chapter, Dhayla's responsibility include overseeing the chapter funds and collaborating with members of Omega Mu to delegate finances and funding for events. Her plan after graduation includes opening her own group private practice dedicated to supporting families and couples in the heart of Richmond, VA.
Madeline Tanouye, Historian
Madeline is a second-year clinical mental health counseling student. As chapter Historian, her responsibilities include maintaining the WM Counseling Instagram, working alongside the newsletter team, and contributing to the WM Counseling Facebookpage with the goal of keeping our community and members up-to-date on chapter initiatives. She has a passion for working with survivors of interpersonal trauma and is completing her internship at Christopher Newport University’s Office of Counseling Services. After graduation, Madeline plans to apply for residency in a college counseling setting in Virginia.
Natasha Backman, Online Liaison
Natasha Backman is a third-year graduate student in the online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Her passion for social justice was catalyzed by her experiences working for Baltimore City Public School with Teach for America. She has a Master's in Special Education from Johns Hopkins and cares deeply about cultivating therapeutic relationships that are anti-ableist, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ affirming. In her role as online liaison, she will explore opportunities for the entire counseling study body to cultivate relationships. She would love for all students to extend their potential network through collaboration and synchronous learning. She has a Pitbull named Archie and enjoys painting in her free time.

Spencer G. Niles
Dr. Spencer G. Niles is a Professor in the Counselor Education Program at W&M. Dr. Niles has served the School of Education as Dean from 2013-2020, and is the co-founder of the Thrive Research and Intervention Center. He served as CSI National President from 2014-2015, President of the National Career Development Association, and is the current editor of Counselor Education & Supervision. He also serves as a CACREP and educational consultant.
