Keynotes:

Kim Yaris is a writer and thinker at Burkins and Yaris—Think Tank for 21st Century Literacy, where their blog and instructional resources have drawn a national audience and made them thought leaders in the field of literacy instruction. A former teacher, Kim is passionate about helping educators navigate, understand, and teach instructional standards without sacrificing their inner teacher.

Kim is co-author of Reading Wellness: Lessons in Independence and Proficiency, which focuses on instilling confidence, curiosity, and joy in students to ignite a passion for reading, and the follow-up Who's Doing the Work? which explores how some traditional scaffolding practices may actually rob students of important learning opportunities and independence. In her keynote, Kim will discuss ways to make small but powerful adjustments to instruction that hold students accountable for their own learning.
