evaluation
The purpose of the genre study is to synthesize the information you have learned by going through the resources on the web. The genre study contains the following:
- Introduction- includes the type of genre being studied, purpose for the study, goals of the study, and evidence of linkage to standards.
- Outline of lessons- includes objectives for individual lessons as well as specific methodology (ie: read alouds, books for literature circles, guided reading, whole group lessons). Must contain at least six lessons. You will choose two of the lessons to flush out into a formal lesson plan containing the following subheadings: topic, related standard, objective, materials, procedure and evaluation.
- Assessment- The genre study must include a plan for assessment. How are you going to tell if your genre study was effective?
Refer to the rubric when creating your genre study. Click here to download the rubric in Word format. If you do not have Microsoft Word, please click here to access a html version.
Evaluation of Genre Study:
Once you have synthesized the information on the web to create a genre study, share your genre study with two peers/colleagues. Have them fill out an evaluation on the strengths, weakness, and areas for improvement of your genre study. Looking critically at their feedback, would you make changes to your genre study? What changes would you make? Note this on your self evaluation sheet.
