Clinical Faculty Program

The William & Mary Clinical Faculty Program is a Virginia Department of Education–funded initiative that strengthens mentorship capacity among highly effective teachers in our partner school divisions, including:

• Gloucester County Public Schools
• Hampton City Schools
• New Kent County Public Schools
• Newport News Public Schools
• Williamsburg–James City County Public Schools
• York County School Division

Teachers selected for the Clinical Faculty Program complete a graduate-level course, The Clinical Faculty Role, and serve as cooperating teachers for William & Mary preservice teachers during their practica and student-teaching internships. Clinical faculty members are identified in collaboration with division leaders and building principals.

This program ensures that William & Mary teacher candidates learn from trained, accomplished educators who model best practices across our partner regions. In turn, our Clinical Faculty network helps us keep our preparation programs responsive to the needs of today’s learners and deeply connected to the realities of K–12 classrooms.
