APA Guidance
All SOE dissertations must adhere to the style and citation guidance provided by the most current edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) unless otherwise indicated in the Doctoral Student Handbook.
Writing and citing using APA is a skill that requires practice in order to achieve proficiency. In addition to the APA manual, there are free, online resources that can help answer APA citation and formatting questions as you complete your dissertation:
APA Style - created by the American Psychological Association
Purdue OWL - created by the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University
Students who are unfamiliar with APA citation formatting and writing, may want to explore the Mastering APA Style Student Workbook, 7th edition or some of the tutorials and webinars and other instructional aids provided by APA Style.
A copy of the most current edition of the APA Manual is available to use, scan, or photocopy in the Learning Resource Center (SOE 2076).
