Profile
Dr. Radomir Ray Mitic (he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education at William & Mary where he teaches in the master's and doctoral programs. Recent courses taught include: History of Higher Education, Educational Planning, Higher Education Law, and Financing Higher Education.
Dr. Mitic's program of research centers on the equitable outcomes of higher education at the local, national, and international levels. His recent work on outcomes includes post-college civic engagement and graduate aspirations, enrollment, and attainment. Current projects include an Arthur Vining Davis Foundation/American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship on the Liberal Arts titled "Examining the Impact of Public Liberal Arts Education on Cultivating Civic and Democratic Citizenship: Causes and Results" and an Inclusive Graduate Education Network project titled "Ad Astra Diversitas: Advancing Full Participation in Space Science."
Dr. Mitic is also Associate Editor for the Journal of First-Generation Student Success and on the editorial board of the Journal of College Student Development. He is also active in the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), American Educational Research Association (AERA), and Comparative & International Education Society (CIES).
Dr. Mitic is accepting Ph.D. students interested in topics related to equity in graduate education, civic outcomes of higher education, and international/comparative higher education for Fall 2025.
