Wade Whitehead '94
Wade Whitehead ’94, a K-12 educator with more than two decades of classroom experience, will be inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame Class of 2016. Five Hall of Fame inductees are selected on an annual basis in recognition of their commitment to the teaching profession.
Whitehead has been the recipient of many honors and awards over the course of his career, including the following: the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, the McGlothlin Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Award, among many others. As part of his induction into the Hall of Fame, his district will receive $1,000 in materials from Pearson Education.
Originally from Bristol, VA, Whitehead is a fourth-generation educator who currently teaches fifth grade at Crystal Spring Elementary in Roanoke, VA. He holds an undergraduate degree in anthropology and elementary education from William & Mary as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Virginia.
