Served as first chair of the School of Education Development Board
Dr. Patsy Joyner, vice president for Institutional Advancement at Paul D. Camp Community College, retired in January after 31 years with the college.
As one of the founding members of the School of Education Development Board, Dr. Joyner served as its first Chair. She also chaired the Graduate and Professional Schools Alumni Council and served as President and Secretary for the South of the James Alumni Chapter. In l996, she received the Alumni Service Award.
"I feel especially proud to have credentials from William and Mary," she said. Joyner is not only a proud alumna; she's an active one as well. A longtime member (now emeritus) of the School of Education Development Board—and its first chair—she is a committed donor known for her unique way of making annual gifts. Her habit of giving began as a graduate student when she committed to $10 a month. Later, she decided to give at least $500 a year by increasing her monthly pledge and recognizing Charter Day. "I give $16.93 a month, because that's the year William and Mary was established," Joyner says. "I also give an annual Charter Day gift representing one dollar per year since chartering—$319 this year, for example." In recent years, she has also upped her annual total beyond the Dean's Council level of the School of Education. Her faithful record has resulted in 26 years of continuous giving!
