This is an inspiring and exciting time  at the Center for Gifted Education at The College of William & Mary.  We are in the process of coordinating with participating school districts as we host  the first residential summer program for high ability students in our Center’s history. Entitled Camp Launch, this program seeks to provide gifted enrichment in STEM, Writing, and Personal Development to students from low income areas. Visit the Precollegiate Learners section to learn more about this new initiative as well as the expansion of our current programming and schedule for the upcoming Summer Enrichment Program.

In this issue we feature an interview with Dr. Joyce VanTassel-Baska, founder of the Center for Gifted Education, conducted by Dr. Kimberley Chandler. The interview presents information regarding Dr. VanTassel-Baska's illustrious career and her vision of the future for her work and the field.

There are  interview transcripts for recent Master's and Ph.D. graduate students in our Where are they now? alumni feature. This section seeks to provide insight into the life of a graduate student in gifted education at William & Mary for those considering advanced degrees in gifted or professionals seeking additional training.

We are happy for you to share in this exciting time with us. Thank you for your continued support of the Center and continued readership of The Bridge: Connecting Research to Practice.

The entire newsletter is also available as a pdf version. Please consider the environment before printing.

 Enjoy!
