Full Description

We are delighted to share that Pamela Harris, clinical associate professor in the online counseling program, has published her latest young adult novel, “Through Our Teeth,” released this fall by Quill Tree Books/HarperCollins.

Set on Halloween night, “Through Our Teeth” follows three teens grappling with the death — and presumed murder — of their best friend. As they search for answers, each must confront the secrets they have been keeping from one another and from themselves. Blending psychological suspense with themes of identity, belonging and mental health destigmatization, the novel invites readers to reflect on the stories we share and the ones we bury. Early reviewers have praised the book for its twist-filled plotting, emotionally resonant character development and thoughtful exploration of how young people navigate grief and guilt.

Harris’ writing continues to explore the intersections of counseling, adolescence and social justice. Her previous novels include “When You Look Like Us,” an Odyssey Award and SCBWI Golden Kite Award winner, and “This Town Is on Fire,” a Golden Kite Honor Book. Her creative work informs her teaching and scholarship in the Counselor Education program, especially in courses on multicultural counseling, counseling school-aged children, and prevention and intervention in schools.

“Through Our Teeth” is now available at local bookstores and major retailers.
