Training and Communications Specialist for Project HOPE-VIRGINIA Kate Miller highlighted in the November issue of Williamsburg’s "Next Door Neighbors" magazine.
Full Description
Kate Miller, training and communications specialist with Project HOPE-Virginia, was recently highlighted in the November edition of Williamsburg’s "Next Door Neighbors" magazine. Miller discussed the journey that led to her current role with Project HOPE-VA. As the spouse of a foreign service officer, she chose to stay home to raise three young children as her family moved from country to country every few years. From the Netherlands to Thailand, Miller leveraged various opportunities to serve her local community and valued the chance to help people with various needs, backgrounds and barriers.
Just over two years ago, Miller was thrilled to take on a role as an American Rescue Plan-Homeless Children and Youth (ARP-HCY) analyst with Project HOPE-VA, a center at the School of Education and the office of the state coordinator for the education of homeless children and youth, where she would focus on assisting local homeless liaisons in finding impactful ways to use American Rescue Plan funding to identify students experiencing homelessness and get them enrolled and connected to needed supports. Since then, Kate has stepped into a new role as training and communications specialist where she helps to create professional development and public outreach materials for liaisons and school staff across Virginia.
