We are proud to celebrate alumna Loury Ollison Floyd, Ph.D. ’04, on her election as Chair-Elect of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) Board of Directors. She begins her tenure in March 2026 and assumes the role of Board Chair in 2027.

Floyd brings more than two decades of leadership in higher education, serving as professor and assistant provost at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., since 2023, where she oversees academic operations, faculty development, accreditation and external grant acquisition. She previously served as dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, leading initiatives supported by over $4.5 million in funding to diversify educator preparation and advance culturally responsive curricula.

A proud William & Mary alumna, Floyd earned her degree in educational policy, planning and leadership following a bachelor’s degree in special education from North Carolina A&T and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. She has also served as president of the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators and chaired AACTE’s Committee on Meetings and Professional Development. Floyd looks forward to contributing to the field of educator preparation during this pivotal time and continuing North Carolina’s strong tradition of leadership on the national stage.
