Paul Garrity '09
Paul aims to be effective in getting all children to a place where they have options for their future.
Paul Garrity earned a B.S. in May 2009 in Government and Elementary Education at William and Mary. He has worked in an elementary school in Kenya, has served as a tutor at many of Williamsburg's local public schools, and student taught fifth grade at D.J. Montague Elementary last year. As an educator, Paul aims to be "effective in getting all children to a place where they have options for their future." He also hopes to be able to learn quickly once he begins in his own classroom, from colleagues, administrators, and professional literature, so that he may become a more effective teacher for his students.
Paul is a 2009 recipient of the James E. and Barbara B. Ukrop Richmond City Public School Teacher Scholarship, an award which encourages first year teachers from William and Mary to serve at least one year in the Richmond City Schools.
Paul is from Charlottesville and he will be teaching third grade at Ginter Park Elementary in Richmond, Va.
