Bio

Kara is a Project Specialist at William & Mary TTAC. She has served in a variety of roles at the school, division, and regional levels, including Special Education Teacher, Instructional Specialist, and Program Specialist at Radford University and VCU’s Training and Technical Assistance Centers. Kara’s work is guided by a commitment to lead with heart and create a more inclusive, understanding world by helping others consider multiple perspectives. Her areas of focus include inclusive practices, classroom and behavior management, MTSS, self-determination, trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, collaboration and co-teaching, instructional coaching, and mental health and well-being in education. She has also served as a VTSS Systems Coach and supported schools and divisions across the state in the areas of Mental Wellness, Trauma, and Family Engagement. Beyond K-12 education, Kara has served as Director of Outreach for a chapter of The Arc in North Carolina and collaborated with agencies providing supported employment, residential care, and transition services for students and adults with disabilities.
