2018 Joy of Literacy and Literature Conference
This one day conference focused on student voice and inquiry through featured authors and speakers Harvey “Smokey” Daniels and Georgia Heard. Harvey Daniels, author of The Curious Classroom, kicked off the conference with an engaging keynote on what it takes to build a learning environment focused on the amazing and interesting questions students ask.
Author of Writing Toward Home, Awakening the Heart, Heart Maps, and others, Georgia Heard closed out the conference with a keynote that inspired the writer in all of us as we help students and ourselves explore our innate sense of wonder through writing. In between these keynotes, concurrent sessions spanning the K-12 continuum addressed the integration of the joy of literacy and literature across the curriculum through interactive, hands-on, and engaging learning experiences.
