Who Can Apply

Historically underrepresented doctoral students from any department in the William & Mary School of Education

Expectations of Holmes Scholars
  • Three-year commitment to the program
  • Attendance at monthly meetings (days/times to be determined)
  • Submit proposals for conferences
  • Attend American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) National Conference
  • Engage in research of the Scholar’s choosing and engage in activities to support that research
  • Attend an AACTE Policy Institute event
Benefits for Holmes Scholars
  • Support to attend the AACTE National Conference
  • Support to attend one additional conference of the Scholar’s choosing
  • Networking and professional development opportunities through AACTE
  • Opportunities to present research during the Holmes Scholar portion of the AACTE National Conference
  • Opportunities to build networking and mentoring connections through AACTE’s network of current Holmes Scholars and Holmes Scholar alums
