Graduate Programs
The William & Mary School of Education offers two programs with concentrations in gifted education: a Ph.D. in Gifted Education Administration and an Online Certificate in Gifted Education.
Ph.D. - Gifted Administration
W&M’s Gifted Education Administration doctoral program will prepare you for the responsibility of heading gifted and talented education programs across the country. This program prepares scholars for service as college and university professors, educational administrators, government or foundation officers, program evaluators or independent researchers and practitioners.

Online Certificate - Gifted Education
The Online Certificate in Gifted Education provides current or future educators with the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of gifted students in the classroom. Through four online courses, students will explore the learning differences and the cognitive and affective characteristics of gifted learners. Students will examine curriculum models in gifted education and learn how to develop a curriculum unit. Coursework will provide students with an opportunity to design learning modifications to grade level curriculum to address the education and learning needs of gifted and talented K-12 learners. The courses in this program meet the course requirements for the Virginia Endorsement in Gifted Education.

Gifted Endorsement Courses
In addition, the Center offers cohorts for Virginia division educators wanting to obtain the Virginia endorsement in gifted education. These opportunities allow individuals to further their understanding of gifted learners, relevant educational theories, curriculum development and design, and measures of assessment, and provide educators with the knowledge and skills required to assume leadership roles in gifted education.
