Alumni Ambassador for the M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction – Literacy Leadership and the Reading Specialist Certificate

About
Claire recently earned her M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction – Literacy Leadership from the William & Mary School of Education. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (1997) and an M.A.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Trident University (2006). Claire has spent 26 years as an elementary school teacher and the past two years as a reading specialist.
Claire’s passion for literacy deepened when her daughter was diagnosed in first grade with a specific learning disability in reading, writing, and math. Determined to better support her child—and other students facing similar challenges—she pursued advanced study in reading instruction. Claire believes that every child can learn to read and is dedicated to helping her students become confident, capable, and lifelong learners.
"My experience in William & Mary’s Literacy Leadership program was life-changing. I grew not only as a teacher, but as a literacy leader who can truly make a difference for struggling readers. The relationships I built, the knowledge I gained, and the confidence I discovered will stay with me forever."
