M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction – Secondary Education

About
Elinor (she/her) is a student in the M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction – Secondary Education program. Elinor previously received a Bachelors Degree in History at Christopher Newport University. She is quite passionate about social studies and just adores watching students have "lightbulb moments." She hopes to teach AP U.S. History but also loves World History I and II.
What's your favorite course (so far)?
I loved taking foundations with Esther Kim! The courses here are geared towards your future goals. I also loved my summer courses with Dr. Kier and Dr. Johnson! Working at Camp Eager is a wonderful introduction to teaching, even if you are not science or math oriented!
What's your favorite spot in Williamsburg?
This is going to sound cheesy, but my favorite place in Williamsburg is my house. I love hosting friends for movie nights and seasonally themed gatherings! I truly believe every cohort just needs a couch to land on, eat some cook out, and listen to one another.
What's a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I come from a family of educators. My mom was both in school and working in schools for a majority of my life. Two of my aunts are in education adjacent roles. The person who has inspired me the most, though, is my papa, John Giusti, who was both a teacher and made a point to discuss history with me. There is something so special about following in the footsteps of your loved ones.
