What is your current job?
I am currently the 2nd grade Exceptional Education Teacher at New Kent Elementary School.

What are your research interests?
My research interests are in student behavior and positive behavior intervention strategies within the classroom and how educators can best support behavior, especially for students with trauma.

Why did you choose W&M?
I chose W&M because it was close to home for me and because I heard W&M had a great education program that set their students up for success even after graduation.

What is your favorite thing about the program?
My favorite thing about the program was being able to start the Teacher in Resident program in partnership with New Kent County Public Schools and my cooperating teacher, Carmen Jones. This was an amazing opportunity where I got to apply the skills I was learning in my classes at W&M in the classroom as I worked full time under my CT’s direction as she trained me with her knowledge and expertise of special education in the district I’m now employed in. I was able to learn first hand about my district’s policies and procedures before entering my first year of teaching. I was given so many opportunities to grow within my residency year that really set me up for success within my first year of teaching.
