Lloyd English '00, Ed.S. '04
Lloyd English is in his twentieth year as a school psychologist, having worked in Norfolk City and Henrico County Public Schools. He is an adjunct instructor in the school psychology program at William & Mary, and has supervised interns from William & Mary, Georgia State and Indiana State. He has worked at every level from preschool through high school and served as lead psychologist. English holds his bachelor's and specialist degrees from William & Mary and his master's degree from Harvard University. He lives in Norfolk, VA, with his family.
"William & Mary provided the foundation for everything I have accomplished in my career. The professors didn't just teach what to think, but also how to think about important issues in education," said English. "They placed the processes and decisions of the school psychologist within the broader context of the school and district, emphasizing collaboration with parents and other professionals." While the field has changed significantly, English still frequently refers to the skills and procedures he learned at William & Mary.
English’s best memories are of the great people he has met at William & Mary, from the professors to the staff to his classmates. Many have remained friends, co-workers, and professional connections to this day. While the program was rigorous, the atmosphere was always fun and collegial.
