Ability of completers to be hired
(in positions for which they have prepared.)
Measure Four (Initial and Advanced)
To graduate from William & Mary’s initial and advanced programs, completers must meet the relevant licensure standards for Virginia. All advanced and initial programs are currently approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia for licensure purposes, and initial program graduates and Reading Specialist graduates must pass licensure examinations to graduate. Therefore, 100% of students in our initial programs, School Psychology, and Reading Specialist programs can be hired upon graduation in positions requiring those licenses.
Advanced program graduates in the K12 Administration program are not mandated to take and pass licensure examinations. For the K12 Administration program, students must take and pass the SLLA examination to be eligible for licensure beyond central office. For those K12 Administration students that take the SLLA, we have a 100% pass rate.
In January 2026, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) provided Commonwealth EPPs with data from the Teacher Licensure Application and Annual Instructional Personnel (IPAL) report to identify the employment locations of program completers from 2020–2024 in Virginia public schools, based on licensure records. Employment data for Spring 2025 graduates were not included because they were not yet available. This data (see Table 9) supports EPP efforts to track graduate employment and collect feedback; however, it does not capture completers working outside Virginia or in private or non‑school settings.

As shown above, the majority of initial and advanced program completers from the previous five years were employed in Virginia public schools as of October 2025. The remaining completers were employed in other states, worked at private institutions, had unknown employment status, or chose to pursue further graduate education.
