Center for Gifted Education

The Center for Gifted Education is a research and development center providing services to educators, policy makers, graduate students, CFGE Logoresearchers, parents, and students in support of the needs of gifted and talented individuals.

Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, the Center has established an international reputation for excellence in research, curriculum development, and service. Several major grants, including funding from the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Act, have provided significant support for the work of the Center.

Goals
  • To provide graduate education programs and opportunities for individuals interested in teaching gifted students and/or assuming administrative and leadership positions in the field of gifted education.
  • To provide selected programs and services for precollegiate learners and their families.
  • To develop, field-test, and disseminate curriculum in relevant content areas at appropriate developmental levels.
  • To conduct research and evaluation for dissemination to relevant audiences and for data-based decision-making.
  • To provide professional development to promote leadership and exemplary practice.

Professional Summer Institute 2012
The Institute is designed for gifted program coordinators, other district and building-level administrators, teachers of the gifted, and all teachers who want to enhance their ability to differentiate appropriately for their high-ability learners. Sessions on June 21 and 22, 2012 will draw upon existing research and evidence of effective practices in gifted education.

Get ready for the 2012 Summer Enrichment Program! Registration is now open for both the Williamsburg and the Richmond locations.
Summer sessions are July 9-13 and July 16-20, 2012 for Williamsburg and June 25-28 for Richmond.
Book Replacements

The AP and Pre-AP Institutes are designed to help new, beginning, and future AP teachers plan and implement more effective AP programs in their schools.
