The Institute is designed for gifted program coordinators, other district and building-level administrators, teachers of the gifted, and all teachers who want to enhance their ability to differentiate appropriately for their high-ability learners. Sessions on June 21 and 22, 2012 will draw upon existing research and evidence of effective practices in gifted education.

The Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts for grades K–5 and 6 – 12 define what students should understand and be able to do by the end of each grade. They correspond to the College and Career Readiness (CCR) anchor standards. The College and Career Readiness (CCR) anchor standards provide broad standards, that, together with the grade level standards, define the specific skills and understandings that all students must demonstrate.

Dr. Joyce VanTassel-Baska received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mensa Education and Research Foundation for her vast contributions to the field of intelligence in a ceremony preceding the National Association of Gifted Children Convention in New Orleans.
“Friendship building on behalf of our respective children is the single best approach we have to creating world peace.” It is this mantra, espoused by Executive Director Tracy L. Cross, that has driven the College of William & Mary’s Center for Gifted Education in its endeavors internationally.

The Center's Executive Director and the Curriculum Director were elected to the NAGC Board of Directors.
The award-winning language arts units from the CFGE have been revised.
