Fulfilling a Mission of Excellence

Teaching, research and public service are integral to the School of Education. Routinely recognized among the nation's top education programs, the School has become an institutional leader in advanced studies during the last decade.

The School's faculty members are experts in their fields providing model outreach programs for students and their families, as well as technical assistance and professional development opportunities for educators. In fact, each year the School serves more than 20,000 educators and administrators through professional development outreach, thus benefiting an exponential number of students.

Gifts to the School of Education help advance its commitment to teaching, research and service. Current fundraising priorities include:

New School of Education Facility

Although the Commonwealth of Virginia has fully funded construction of this state of the art facility, we need private support for state-of-the-art technology, furniture and classroom accessories that promote collaborative learning.

Fund for Excellence

The Fund for Excellence provides the broadest support to the School through student awards and scholarships, professional development funds for faculty, research grants, and support for student organizations and other resources.

Support for Students

Increasing support for graduate students through scholarships and graduate assistantships as well as research and professional development opportunities are key priorities. Student scholarships bolster our ability to recruit top students to our academic programs. Students also benefit from funds to cover travel and registration costs for national conferences.

Support for Faculty

Private gifts allow the School to recruit and retain the best teachers and scholars, and provide them with research opportunities, professional development funding and programmatic enhancements to encourage collaboration within the School of Education and across campus.
