Highlights for the School of Education

Enrollment Highlights
  • Enrollment: 586 undergraduate students, degree-seeking full-time graduate students, degree seeking part-time graduate students and unclassified graduate students.
  • Due to the generous private support of its donors, the School of Education has 33 scholarships and awards dedicated to providing financial assistance to deserving students.
  • Conferred 166 degrees in the 2010 – 2011 academic year.
  • SOE graduates account for nearly a third of the master’s degrees and over half of the doctoral degrees awarded at William and Mary each year.
Faculty Highlights 
  • Forty-seven faculty members, 100% hold doctorate degrees, 38 of whom are tenured or tenure eligible and four hold endowed professorships combine with other personnel for a total of over 100 faculty and staff at the School of Education.
  • Scholoarship productivity 2010-2014: 48 books, 92 book chapters, 195 journal articles and 884 academic presentations.
  • Education professors have garnered more than $11.5 million in the past 3 year
Students 
  • Enrollment: 586 undergraduate, degree-seeking graduate (FT & PT) and unclassified graduate students.
  • Conferred 203 degrees during the 2014-2015 academic year.
  • SOE graduates account for nearly a third of the master's degree and more than half of the doctoral degrees awarded at William and Mary each year.
  • The school of Education has 40 scholarships and awards dedicated to providing student financial assistance.
Facility
The new School of Education building, completed in May 2010, is a 113,000 sq ft , state-of-the-art facility located on a 22 acre lot adjacent to campus.  Highlights include:
  • 13 classrooms
  • 10,000 square foot Professional Development Center, accommodating more than 300 people for conferences, academies and institutes
  • All academic activities and outreach centers housed in the same facility
  • Literacy for Life Program included in building
  • U.S. Green Building Council Award for LEED Gold certification
  • On the College bus route
  • Pedestrian pathway links School to campus
