With ten years of university experience in admissions, academic advising, teaching, and international student development, Johann studied Communications at Gordon College (BA, Honors, 2006) outside Boston. As an active liberal arts student, he focused his undergraduate thesis on Classroom Communication: A Study of Effective Learning in the Classroom. This interest led him to pursue further education at the University of Maryland, College Park (MA, 2012) in Education Policy & Leadership, Higher Education.
Upon graduating, Johann went to work for the Institute of International Education, the largest- and longest-serving provider of international exchange programs. There he interned for the Fulbright Program, and worked as a student advisor to undergraduate STEM students from the Middle East, studying at Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Maryland, College Park.
