 Video Teleconferencing

Whether it's teaching at a distance, participating in a dissertation defense, or conducting virtual committee work, we have several video conferencing platforms to help you collaborate efficiently. From simple software based platforms to H.323 standards based Cisco and mobile/Virtual VTC capabilities, we have something to get you connected and in the meeting.

Zoom is a video and web conferencing platform that allows you to screenshare and to host audio and video based web meetings. All School of Education faculty and staff can create a free Basic account by logging it at our William & Mary Zoom portal. Zoom is now integrated into Blackboard, making it super simple for faculty to create web meetings for their classes.

The School of Education has standards-based videoconferencing capabilities through the mobile Tandberg/Cisco system pictured here. This is an equipment based solution that takes a bit longer to setup. However, this is a great platform for a more formal engagement.

Skype is installed on all classroom computers. All classrooms are equipped with digital video cameras in the back of the classroom and with button mics in the ceiling, so you don't need any special hardware to create a Skype session in your class. Skype continues to be a free and easy solution for a simple video call.

Google Hangout

Free audio and video conferencing through WM Apps. Google now allows hangout creators to connect with non-Google users. There is a limit of 25 participants in a Google Hangout. All students at William & Mary have access to Google Hangout through their WM Apps accounts. Faculty can request free WM Apps accounts by contacting

You can learn more about videoconferencing options at William & Mary on IT's webpage.

If you have a need, please contact Brandon with your request and he can pair you with the appropriate technology to ensure an easy and full VTC experience.
