Homeless Liaison Training Requirements
Section 722(g)(1)(J)(iv) of the McKinney-Vento Act, Title IX, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act states:
“The State and the local educational agencies in the State will adopt policies and practices to ensure participation by liaisons described in clause (ii) in professional development and other technical assistance activities provided pursuant to paragraphs (5) and (6) of subsection (f), as determined appropriate by the Office of the Coordinator.”
Virginia’s plan for such participation was published in Superintendent’s Memo No. 126-17, dated April 21, 2017. The following requirements were posted in Attachment A.
New liaisons, within 1 month of designation as homeless liaison, must participate in one of the following:- Project HOPE-VA Homeless Education Regional Training
- Fall 2023 Trainings are completed. Watch for future dates.

- Project HOPE-VA Homeless Liaison Online Training Course (contact us for registration)
- Project HOPE-VA Charlie Check In* • Fourth Tuesday of the month • Upcoming dates include

*Participation in at least 75% of the webinar is required to meet the training requirements.
