Frequently Asked Questions

UPDATE 4/29/20:

Due to WM’s continued restricted travel policy and the inability to host groups on campus, we are being forced to cancel our in-person events this summer because of COVID-19. We will no longer be hosting Summer Institute this summer. We apologize for the inconvenience, but our hands are tied. We hope to see you next summer.

Is there on-campus housing? Does the registration fee include housing?

Participants are on their own for housing. We will make arrangements with local hotels to provide group rates. Participants must mention the William & Mary conference to receive special rates.

Are meals included in the registration fee?

There will be a light continental breakfast provided each morning. Lunch is provided, and you are on your own for dinner.  Please note that lunch is typically a box lunch, which might include a sandwich or salad. We try to accommodate food allergy requests in advance. A list of area restaurants will be available at the registration table. There are a number of restaurants close to campus.

Where will my class be?

All sessions are in the School of Education building.

What airport should I fly into? How do I get to Williamsburg?

Is there still space? Your registration deadline has not passed.

What do I need to bring?

Please refer to the session description for specific materials you will need for the workshop. Bring something to write with and something to write on. If you have a laptop or a tablet, you are encouraged to bring it.

Dress so that you will be comfortable sitting for much of the day.

Can I cancel my registration or send someone in my place?

No refunds will be processed after June 1, 2020. Schools or individuals will be billed for the full amount if a registered participant does not show, and no refunds will be given for no-shows that have prepaid.

Sessions are subject to cancellation should minimum numbers not be met. Those registered in sessions that do not make the minimum number of participants will be notified no later than May 25, 2020 and will be given the opportunity to select another session. In the event that another session is not desired, participants will receive a full refund.
