  1. Eastern Virginia Writing Project
    The Eastern Virginia Writing Project is a local site of the National Writing Project. Using the national program design as its model, the EVWP offers teachers the expertise necessary to strengthen and evolve their own writing programs.
  2. Educational Policy, Planning & Leadership
    Educational Policy, Planning & Leadership programs prepares highly qualified graduates with the knowledge and skills of policy, planning and leadership necessary to guide, influence, and shape institutions at all levels of education, and by enhancing the effectiveness of complex educational organizations through leadership, scholarship, and service.
  3. Elementary Education
    Graduate students in the Elementary School Teaching M.A.E.d. program complete a 45-semester hour program that includes educational foundations course work, methods courses in elementary school subject fields, clinical and student teaching experiences.
  4. English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement/Concentration
    To meet the needs of the rapidly growing population of English learners, students can pursue a master's program in ESL/Bilingual Education or an ESL (dual) endorsement to the licensure programs in elementary, secondary and special education. The ESL endorsement is not a stand-alone degree program, nor is it open to non-degree seeking students.
  5. Events
    The 11,000 square foot Professional Development Center (PDC) is the School of Education's main venue for hosting meetings, conferences, and other events in support of the professional development of educators. The PDC can accommodate meetings for 10 to 375 people.
  6. Executive Ed.D. in K-12 Administration
    The Executive Ed.D. offers an alternative to the traditional delivery model for the doctorate degree without sacrificing the quality historically associated with William & Mary. Courses are taught primarily by regular School of Education faculty members, in a format that better meets the needs of working practitioners. The program is designed for educators with master's degrees and currently in administrative roles.
  7. Emergency Situations and Equipment
    In the event of the activation of the building alarm, all faculty, staff, students and other personnel are to immediately evacuate the building in an orderly fashion. No one should wait to determine whether the emergency is real.
